Introduction of Graphite Ring:
The carbon graphite ring is made from graphite. If you add some stainless steel bushing, the carbon graphite ring can be pressed into forms. This kind of graphite products feature in high temperatures endurance, corrosion, anti-aging, supple and springy. And it is also with anti-corrosion capability, self-lubricant capability, a high conductivity coefficient, a small coefficient of expansion and a low friction coefficient. As a result of those advantages, it is suitable for mechanic seal.
We use seal device to seal gases or liquids in the closed windows. The moving parts (shaft of piston rod) can protrude from the closed windows through seal devices so as to connect with the prime movers. While carbon graphite ring seals can be made into non-contact structure. We can leave small gap between the fixed and moving parts, or the contact structure with the fixed and moving parts contacting each other.
But as it is well known, for the contact seal devices, lubricants are needed to reduce the friction and wear on the sliding contact surface.
However, as the development of device operating requirement, hard graphite ring is needed to to ensure the device to work reliably without lubricants. Especially in the area of printing and dyeing mechanics, the high temperature, high heat and corrosive media.
Anyway, soft seal filler containing graphite can be used when the sliding rate is low, and the working temperature and pressure are not high. We can also use the seal bowl made of leather, steel paper and fluoroplastic or graphite ring made of strengthened plastics to meet all kind of sealing needs.
